This week I was part of a taster session to kick off a new arts and culture project in Leicester.
The project ‘Illuminate’ is produced and curated by Shazia Osman and will be exploring depression and anxiety from an Islamic perspective.
A taster session was held on Thursday 7th March at Oadby Community Centre to launch the project.
During the session, more than 60 participants had the opportunity to try out all the disciplines and then enrol onto the funded workshops. The aim is to co-create a body of work as part of the sessions which will be exhibited later this year.
The workshops on offer include:
· Pottery/ kintsugi with Shazia Osman
· Poetry with Amrin Razak
· Poetry with Shareefa Energy
· Calligraphy with Ayesha Ahmed
· Geometry with Safira Ali
