ARTISTS are invited to submit work to a new Leicester exhibition celebrating Islamic arts.
Takhleeq Leicester, an Islamic arts, culture and heritage network based in the city, is holding the exhibition, titled ‘Oh My God (Ya Illahi)’ next month.
Organisers are looking for contributions from artists, crafts people and makers to submit work as part of the open call before the deadline on 17th July.
Submissions are welcomed from creatives living or working in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland who are from a Muslim background, or those who create Islamic art.
Successful work will be showcased as part of the exhibition at StudionAme, Brougham Street, Leicester, on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July.
The exhibition will include prizes for the top three pieces of work: first prize £75, second £50, and third £25.
Adam Khalifa, from Takhleeq Leicester, said: “We are aiming to showcase Islamic art in the city as part of Takhleeq Leicester’s first exhibition.
We are looking forward to seeing the work submitted by artists, makers and crafts people to be considered for the exhibition.
And as well as the public exhibition, there will also be practical creative workshops available to take part in.”
Submission process:
· The artist call out is free to enter
· Artists must be aged over 16
· Send a picture of one piece (not a series) of work. Any side of the artwork should not exceed 1m
· Email your submission before the deadline 17th July to takhleeqleicester@gmail.com
· Work for inclusion will be selected by a panel and successful artists will be notified by email
· Prizes awarded will be:
First prize £75
Second prize £50
Third prize £25

· The exhibition will be open to the public at StudionAme, 2 Brougham Street, Leicester, LE1 2BA, from Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July from 11am-4pm
· Takhleeq Leicester is a network for creative people from a Muslim background in Leicester. It is open to creatives including visual artists, singers, songwriters, poets and writers.
‘Takhleeq’ translates to Creation in Arabic.
