Art Residency

My Residency with No Jobs In the Arts: A Summer of Creativity at LCB Depot

This summer, I had the privilege of participating in a residency with No Jobs In the Arts at LCB Depot, in Leicester. It kickstarted some creative new work - I haven’t decided yet whether it will be a single piece of work or part of a collection, but the residency gave me the environment to begin exploring this new work.

A Creative Space

The residency provided time and space to focus entirely on my art and surrounded by other creatives. The atmosphere was inspiring and it was a good sense of community. Everyone was working on different projects, sharing ideas and motivating each other. It also gave the freedom to really delve into my process without the usual daily distractions.

Starting New Work

During my time at the residency, I focused mainly on drawing and isolating shapes in particular patterns. The work is still evolving and I’m excited to see where it leads.

Inspiration and Collaboration

One of the most fulfilling aspects of the residency was being part of a community of artists, each bringing their own unique perspective to their work. I found it inspiring to be in such a collaborative environment, where we could bounce ideas off each other and learn from each other’s creative processes. It was a reminder of how important it is to be surrounded by fellow creatives who push you to think differently and grow.

Moving Forward

This residency was the perfect opportunity to begin new work. I’m taking the ideas and momentum gained at LCB Depot into my practice, where I’ll continue developing this new direction. I feel energised and ready to expand on the themes I explored.

I’m incredibly grateful to No Jobs In the Arts and LCB Depot for providing this opportunity, and I look forward to sharing more about this project as it develops.
